About Us
Zariya is a performing arts company that represents true culture and traditions of India through DANCE and ART incorporating traditional, classical, contemporary and commercial dances from India.
It was created by an Indian dance artist Kritika Thakur who moved to Portugal after getting married to a Portuguese percussionist Tiago Manuel Soares.

Zariya [Pronounced Zariyā] is an Urdu language word which means a medium/source/way/path to achieve a purpose or that leads to a goal. Zariya for us is the way to spread Indian culture to the world.
About Kritika Thakur
Kritika was born and brought up in New Delhi, India. She studied Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology (2005-2009) but after falling in love with dance she changed her career and decided to follow her dreams and passion. Her motivation came from her teachers in The Danceworx Performing Arts Academy in Delhi where she started learning dance at professional level.
She holds an experience of 11 years in various Indian and western dance styles, such as Bollywood, Indian Folk dances (Ghoomar, Kalbeliya, Garba, Dandiya, Bhangra, etc), semi classical Kathak and Bharatanatyam, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, latin, Hip Hop, Dancehall, High Heels etc. She has performed in more than 1000 live stage shows including international shows in countries like Egypt, China, Russia, Dubai, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Andorra, and Sri Lanka.
She has worked in BOLLYWOOD industry in Mumbai, India as a performer and Choreographer. She has been Lead Female artist in 3 Bollywood Musical productions. Being a daughter of professional Yoga Teachers, she has practiced Yoga since her childhood that helped in her dance training as well.
After moving to Portugal in 2017, she started building her career with Indian dance classes , workshops and shows in all over the country including Braga, Trofa, Porto, Espinho, Figueira da foz, Coimbra, Viseu, Paredes, Miranda do Corvo, Mealhada, Ovar, Oeiras, Lisbon, Portimão, Azores (Faial) and other small towns.
She has also been a part of many Portuguese dance events such as Tradidanças Carvalhais (as Teacher), Outono Quente Viseu (as teacher), Carnaval Ovar 2019 (as performer), All Dance Portugal (as Jury), Bollywood Dance Festival, Lisbon (as teacher), and many others.
